Program Description
Conflicts of Interest 2016. Live lecture presented by Richard Clem. This will be an in-depth look at the conflict of interest rules governing lawyers in Minnesota and other states. It will cover Rule 1.7 of the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as related rules. Subjects addressed include: Joint representations in general; driver and passenger; co-defendants in criminal cases; insured and insurer; organization and individuals within organization; buyer and seller; testator and beneficiary; closely related entitites; business transactions between clients; consent to conflicts; "hot potato" doctrine; and more. 180 Minutes.

In addition, all attendees may take, at no additional charge, the on-demand elimination of bias program. The program description for that program is available at this link. You may take the elimination of bias program at any time before June 30 (either before or after the Duluth program).

About the Speaker

The program will be presented by Richard P. Clem, an attorney and continuing legal education (CLE) provider in Minnesota. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for over 25 years. He has a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul and a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota. His reported cases include: Asociacion Nacional de Pescadores a Pequena Escala o Artesanales de Colombia v. Dow Quimica de Colombia, 988 F.2d 559, rehearing denied, 5 F.3d 530 (5th Cir. 1993), cert. denied, 510 U.S. 1041 (1994); LaMott v. Apple Valley Health Care Center, 465 N.W.2d 585 (Minn. Ct.
