High quality, reasonably priced CLE opportunities
On March 24, 2014, the Iowa Supreme Court amended the Iowa CLE rules to allow Iowa attorneys to receive up to six of their required 15 credits each year with "unmoderated programs." Because of the national emergency, in 2020, the limitation has been removed, and attorneys may take all 15 credits with these programs. The course shown on this page meets the Iowa guidelines, and Iowa ethics credit has been approved. You may take this program at any time that is convenient for you. You can listen online or download the program to your computer or other device. On-demand CLE is a popular option in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and other states, and now Iowa attorneys can take advantage of them.
To receive CLE credit, please follow these steps:
If paying online, click the "Buy Now" link below.
Upon receipt of your affidavit, I will send you via e-mail a certificate of attendance. If you don't have an e-mail address, I can send this by U.S. Mail. I process these courses manually, so please allow time for me to respond. I will normally provide your certificate of attendance within 24 hours. You can then report your attendance online, as you would with any other CLE course.

Iowa/Wisconsin/Minnesota Ethics.Lecture presented by Richard Clem. This will be a comprehensive review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Iowa, Nebraska, West Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. Therefore, this course will serve as a useful refresher for the practitioner to avoid ethical pitfalls.
This year, we'll place a special emphasis on Conflicts of Interest. While the subject is addressed by Rule 1.7, the text of the rule gives little practical guidance. We'll spend time talking about common situations where the practitioner should be alert to potential conflicts. 240 minutes.
