On-Demand CLE: Recent Appellate Decisions, July-August 2020

This two credit on-demand program is a recording of the live CLE program I presented in Roseville, Minnesota, on July 23, 2020, and in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on August 15,2020. In two hours, we look at several recent decisions from the Minnesota Supreme Court and other appellate courts in the region.

To receive CLE credit, please follow these steps:

  4. During each half of the program, you will be given three code numbers. Write down the numbers you hear. They will be in the following format:

  5. Send me the code numbers. (Iowa attorneys should send the codes in affidavit form. I will supply the form for the affidavit. You can send them to me by e-mail at clem.law@usa.net, by phone at 612-378-7751, or by U.S. Mail to: Richard Clem, 1616 N. Victoria St., St. Paul, MN 55117. If paying online by credit card, you can also include the code numbers when making your payment.
  6. Make payment of the course fee. The fee for the entire program is $20, OR $10 for one credit.

If paying online, click the "Pay Now" link below. You will be able to enter the code numbers during the payment process. If you prefer, you can leave this field blank and send the code numbers to me separately.

Upon receipt of your payment and code numbers, I will send you via e-mail a certificate of attendance. If you don't have an e-mail address, I can send this by U.S. Mail. I process these courses manually, so please allow time for me to respond. I will normally provide your certificate of attendance within 24 hours.

This program runs one hour.

CLE Credit

Iowa: Two CLE credits approved. Iowa activity number 364520, for period 5/2/21 and 5/1/22. Iowa attorneys should submit the code numbers in affidavit form. I will provide the form for you to complete.
Minnesota: Two credits approved. First hour, 1 CLE credit approved. Minnesota event code 317402. This program is eligible for credit between August 4, 2020, and August 3, 2022. Second hour, 1 CLE credit approved. Minnesota event code 320347. This program is eligible for credit between August 21, 2020, and Auust 20, 2022.
Wisconsin:: Each hour approved for 1 CLE credit through December 31, 2021.
Nebraska: Two CLE credits approved. Nebraska Activity Number 221827, for period 12/4/21 through 12/3/22.

Course Description

Recent Minnesota Decisions. Recording of live lecture presented by Richard Clem. This program will review recent decisions from the Minnesota Supreme Court, and other courts from around the region. Topics include search and seizure, statute of limitations, medical assistance, effective assistance of counsel, geographic names, attorney discipline, navigable waters, reasonable accomodationand, and more. Two hours.

Interactive Component

This course has an interactive component in that the course presenter is available by telephone or e-mail for any questions or comments regarding the substantive content of the course. During the course, all attendees must make a note of the code numbers given during the program and submit them by e-mail to the course sponsor. The sponsor provides a certificate of attendance only upon recipt of the code numbers.

About the Speaker

Richard P. Clem is an attorney and continuing legal education (CLE) provider in Minnesota. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for 30 years. He has a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul and a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota. His reported cases include: Asociacion Nacional de Pescadores a Pequena Escala o Artesanales de Colombia v. Dow Quimica de Colombia, 988 F.2d 559, rehearing denied, 5 F.3d 530 (5th Cir. 1993), cert. denied, 510 U.S. 1041 (1994); LaMott v. Apple Valley Health Care Center, 465 N.W.2d 585 (Minn. Ct.
