*-CLE credit has been approved/applied for as follows:
Iowa: Live program, 5.0 credits, including 2.5 ethics credits approved . Iowa activity number 272997.
Nebraska: Live Program, 5.0 credits, including 4.0 ethics credits approved . Nebraska activity number 147414.
Minnesota: Live Program, 5.0 credits, including 4.0 ethics credits applied for. Minnesota event code 248360.
Wisconsin: CLE credit applied for upon request.
Other States: Eligible for CLE credit in most states. Please contact me regarding credit in other states.

Note to Iowa Attorneys: This program has been approved for credit in both Iowa and Nebraska, for a total of 5 credits. However, even though the ethics program runs longer than 3 hours, it has only been approved for 2.5 ethics credits in Iowa. I normally try to make this program satisfy the entire 3 credit ethics requirement for two years. But this year, you will need to get an additional 1/2 credit elsewhere.

If you attended my 2016 program in Sioux City, or if you attended any other ethics program of at least 1/2 hour during 2016 or 2017, then you'll have plenty of ethics credits. If you are short ethics credit, I have prepared a list of free Iowa ethics CLE programs that you can take online to complete the extra half credit. I will also be sponsoring a series of free ethics conference calls, and will have details available at the program.

Program Description

Iowa Trust Accounts.Live lecture presented by Richard Clem. The program will cover the rules regarding client funds and trust accounts, including:

While the program will focus on the Iowa rules, we'll also look at the requirements for Nebraska Lawyer Trust Accounts. If time permits, we'll also look at other provisions of the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct.

In addition to the ethics program, we will review some recent decisions from appellate courts in Iowa, Nebraska, and around the region. Topics include: Common carriers; misrepresentation under state tort claims act; immigration consequences of conviction; business marital property; line-item veto; and more.
