Richard Clem Continuing Legal Education
High quality, reasonably priced CLE opportunities
3 CLE Credits including ethics for only $25 per credit
I'm offering the following conference call CLE programs in December 2017. This is a convenient way to satisfy your CLE requirements, for only $25 per credit. The programs on this page are being offered for Iowa and Wisconsin credit, but credit in other states is also available. (Minnesota credit is available upon request, but an additional fee may apply). Upon registration, you will be given a telephone number and access code. At the time of the program, you simply call in, enter the access code, and listen to the program. You can submit live questions during the program.
December 31 update: You can register for the Sunday afternoon program until the last minute. I will be out of the office in the morning, but will send call-in information immediately before the noon program.
The Sunday evening program will take place if necessary, but I would prefer not to do that program. Therefore, if you want to take the program on Sunday, please sign up for the 12:00 program if possible.
Even though each day's program is three hours, you may register for all or part of any day's program (or divide the program between different days). If you need only one or two ethics credits, it is recommended that you start at 12:00 or 6:00, although you may join the program already in progress. I try to process registrations as quickly as possible. Please check your e-mail shortly before the program begins for call-in instructions. If you have technical difficulties during the program, please call my cell phone, 651-285-5474.

Iowa Ethics Refresher 2017.Live lecture presented by Richard Clem. This will be a comprehensive review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Iowa and other states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. Therefore, this course will serve as a useful refresher for the practitioner to avoid ethical pitfalls.
The course materials are available at the following links:
All programs will be presented live by Richard P. Clem, who has a B.A. in history from the University of Minnesota, and a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for 25 years. His reported cases include: Asociacion Nacional de Pescadores a Pequena Escala o Artesanales de Colombia v. Dow Quimica de Colombia, 988 F.2d 559, rehearing denied, 5 F.3d 530 (5th Cir. 1993), cert. denied, 510 U.S. 1041 (1994); LaMott v. Apple Valley Health Care Center, 465 N.W.2d 585 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991); Abo el Ela v. State, 468 N.W.2d 580 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991).
