3 credits only $75
The following conference call CLE programs are scheduled for December, 2012. This is a convenient way to satisfy your CLE requirements, for only $25 per credit. Upon registration, you will be given a toll-free telephone number and access code. At the time of the program, you simply call in, enter the access code, and listen to the program. You can submit live questions during the program. CLE credit has been applied for in Iowa and Wisconsin. Credit is available in other states by reciprocity (for example, New York is reciprocal with Wisconsin, so you can satisfy your New York requirement with these programs).
Each program is identical, and offers three ethics credits. If you need only one or two credits, you may register for a portion of any program. If your scheduled does not permit all three hours the same day, you may take the first hour one day, the second hour another day, and the third hour another day. The three hour program satisfies the entire Ethics requirement in Iowa and Wisconsin, and most other states.
If your ethics credits are already taken care of, the credits can be used to satisfy your general CLE requirement in Iowa or Wisconsin.
These programs cover the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and are relevant for attorneys in any state. My programs have been used for CLE credit by attorneys in Minnesota, Indiana, Nebraska, Texas, New York, and other states. If you need help obtaining credit in any state, please let me know and I'll be happy to work with you.
All times shown are Central time. All programs begin promptly at the time shown. The phone line will be open approximately five minutes prior to the times shown. Please call in approximately five minutes prior to the start time so that attendance and opening remarks can be taken care of prior to the start of the program. The total length of the program is 3 hours 10 minutes, and we will take two five minute breaks during the program. All programs are live lectures.

Ethics Refresher 2012: Presented by Richard Clem. This will be a comprehensive review of the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Wisconsin and Iowa. Most states have adopted substantially similar rules governing lawyers, and this course will review the rules as adopted in Iowa and other states. Where the rules differ, we will go over the differences as adopted in other states. Seeing these differences gives insight into the meaning of the rule in all states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. We'll cover many of the rules, and the written materials will cover the rules in their entirety. The parts we're not able to cover in this two hour program are covered in a webcast, which is available for Wisconsin credit.
The New Iowa Advertising Rules, Presented by Richard Clem. We will spend an hour looking at the new amendments to the Iowa advertising rules, which will take effect on January 1. In addition, we'll take a brief look at the previous rules, and also compare the new rules with the rules as adopted in Nebraska, Minnesota, and other states. Even though the rules have been liberalized considerably, there are a few surprises that might affect many Iowa attorneys, such as the new rules covering website URL's. Live lecture, one hour. Even though this program is geared toward Iowa attorneys, it is relevant to attorneys in Wisconsin and other states, since the new Iowa rules track closely with the model rules adopted in other states.
All programs will be presented live by Richard P. Clem, who has a B.A. in history from the University of Minnesota, and a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for over 20 years. His reported cases include: Asociacion Nacional de Pescadores a Pequena Escala o Artesanales de Colombia v. Dow Quimica de Colombia, 988 F.2d 559, rehearing denied, 5 F.3d 530 (5th Cir. 1993), cert. denied, 510 U.S. 1041 (1994); LaMott v. Apple Valley Health Care Center, 465 N.W.2d 585 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991); Abo el Ela v. State, 468 N.W.2d 580 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991).
