November 25 Conference Call CLE: Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin Ethics

This CLE program took place in the past. For information on upcoming low-cost CLE programs, please visit my main CLE page

This program will be repeated starting November 29, through December 31. For details, please visit this link. In addition, Wisconsin (and New York) attorneys may earn up to ten credits with my $10 per credit on-demand programs. For information, please visit my main CLE page.

The following conference call CLE programs are currently scheduled for Friday, November 25, 2011. This is a convenient way to satisfy your CLE requirements, for only $25 per credit. Upon registration, you will be given a toll-free telephone number and access code. At the time of the program, you simply call in, enter the access code, and listen to the program. You can submit live questions during the program. CLE credit has been approved in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Credit is available in other states by reciprocity (for example, New York is reciprocal with Wisconsin, so you can satisfy your New York requirement with these programs).

All of these programs offer one ethics credit each. You may take as many or as few credits as you wish. Each portion of the program covers a separate section of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Any three segments satisfy the entire Ethics requirement in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and any two segments satisfy the entire Iowa Ethics requirement.

If your ethics credits are already taken care of, the credits can be used to satisfy your general CLE requirement in Minnesota, Iowa, or Wisconsin.

Course Description
Ethics Refresher 2011 (Parts 1 through 6). This will be a comprehensive review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. All three states have adopted substantially similar rules governing lawyers, and this course will review the rules as adopted in all three states. Where the rules differ, we will go over the differences. Seeing these differences is useful for the practitioner in that particular state, but also gives insight into the meaning of the rule in other states. And since the same model rules serve as the basis for most states' rules, this course will provide practical guidance for attorneys in most U.S. jurisdictions. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. Therefore, this course will serve as a useful refresher for the practitioner to avoid ethical pitfalls. There are six separate programs, each of which covers a different section of the rules. They can be taken in any order, and each hour can be taken individually.

This will be a live telephone conference call CLE. The speaker, Richard Clem, will be speaking live to teleconference participants from St. Paul, Minnesota. Upon registration, you will be given the telephone number to dial, and an access code to enter. This will be a toll-free number from the United States. Participants outside the United States will call a U.S. phone number in the 713 area code. You will also be e-mailed a copy of the course materials. There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions during the conference call. In addition, it will be possible to send written questions to the speaker via e-mail, and these questions will be addressed during the call.

When registering, please provide the phone number from which you plan to call. There will be an automatic list of participants generated based upon Caller ID, and this list will be used to verify attendance. If you need to call from a different telephone, please inform me after the program so that I can verify attendance. A certificate of attendance will be e-mailed after the program to verified attendees.
