Free MPRE Review Lecture

On Sunday, February 16, 2014, I'll be conducting a free review session for the MPRE. During the course of this free 3-hour live lecture, I will cover the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct in their entirety. This is the first time I've presented this program for law students preparing for the MPRE. But the program is essentially identical to the popular CLE program I've presented hundreds of times for attorneys in Minnesota and other states.

This program is also being presented for CLE credit for Iowa attorneys. 3.0 Iowa Ethics CLE credits have been approved. Iowa activity number 129439. (Minnesota CLE credit will not be applied for.)

Date: Sunday, February 16, 2014

Time: 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Location: Community Meeting Room
Lower Level, Como Lakeside Pavilion
1360 North Lexington Parkway
St. Paul, Minnesota 55103

Space is limited to 25 participants, so pre-registration is required. To reserve a spot, simply send me an e-mail to clem.law@usa.net letting me know you'll attend. Please download the course materials prior to the program. They are available, free of charge, at this link in PDF format. They are also available as a web page at this link. (WiFi will not be available, so if you want to view them on your own device, please download them prior to the program.) They are also available for purchase in Kindle format at Amazon.

Location

Como Lakeside Pavilion is located in Como Park, on the west side of Lake Como, on Lexington Parkway. From Interstate 94, take Lexington north 2.3 miles. From Minnesota Highway 36, take Lexington south 1.9 miles. Free parking is available in the two large lots near the Pavilion. There is additional free parking nearby in the lot on East Como Boulevard, and elsewhere in the park. Enter the building through the main cafe entrance on the parking lot level and take the elevator to the lower level. The location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Please contact me in advance if you need any special accomodations. Outside food and beverages are not permitted, but coffee and a wide variety of food and beverages are available from Black Bear Crossings upstairs.

If you're coming from out of town, the Best Western Bandana Square is less than a mile from the CLE location. Radisson Hotel Minneapolis - Roseville and Super 8 Roseville Mpls St Paul Area are about three miles away.

What's the Catch? Why is this Program Free?

I'm presenting this program at no charge for a couple of reasons. I do plan to present the same program in March, closer to the date of the MPRE, and there will be a modest charge for that program. I'm confident that you will find this program helpful and will recommend the paid program to others. Also, I will be recording this lecture for purchase on my website, and I've found that programs I do with a live audience are better than ones I record in the office. In addition to these selfish considerations, I really do want to help you pass the test.

About The Presenter

Richard P. Clem is an attorney and continuing legal education (CLE) provider in Minnesota. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for 25 years. He has a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul and a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota. His reported cases include: Asociacion Nacional de Pescadores a Pequena Escala o Artesanales de Colombia v. Dow Quimica de Colombia, 988 F.2d 559, rehearing denied, 5 F.3d 530 (5th Cir. 1993), cert. denied, 510 U.S. 1041 (1994); LaMott v. Apple Valley Health Care Center, 465 N.W.2d 585 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991); Abo el Ela v. State, 468 N.W.2d 580 (Minn. Ct. App. 1991).

CLE Credit

For Iowa-admitted attorneys, this program is also being presented for CLE credit. This program is a comprehensive review of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, which are nearly identical to the rules as adopted in Iowa. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. Therefore, this course will serve as a useful refresher for the practitioner to avoid ethical pitfalls. Three hours.
