This five credit on-demand program consists of recordings of previous live CLE webcasts and conference calls. The first two hours are video recordings of programs originally presented on May 21 and November 20, 2021. We look at several recent decisions from the Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota Supreme Courts, and other courts in the region.

The final three hours is an audio recording of the ethics program originally presented on December 2, 2021.

Since Nebraska attorneys need ten credits of CLE, the price for this course includes an additional five credits at my other courses. For $79, you can complete your entire Nebraska CLE requirement for 2021

Nebraska: Five credits, including 3 ethics credits, approved. Nebraska activity number 221825. Valid for Nebraska credit if taken between 12/4/21 and 12/3/22.
Iowa: Five credits, including 3 ethics credits, approved. Iowa activity number 372490. Valid for Iowa credit if taken between 12/6/21 and 12/5/22.

Course Description

Video program: This program will review recent decisions from appellate courts in Nebraska and Iowa and other courts around the region. Topics include: Negligence duty, property tax, restraint on alienation, hearsay, defamation, electronic filing, municipal liablity, adverse possession, speedy trial, physician discipline, amendment of criminal complaint, employment discrimination, church dispute litigation, hearsay, landlord-tenant, First amendment, navigable waters, and more. Recorded lecture, 120 minutes.

Audio program: Ethics 2021. Live lecture presented by Richard Clem. This will be a comprehensive review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Wisconsin and other states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. Therefore, this course will serve as a useful refresher for the practitioner to avoid ethical pitfalls. Recorded lecture, 180 minutes.

Interactive Component

This course has an interactive component in that the course presenter is available by telephone or e-mail for any questions or comments regarding the substantive content of the course. During the course, all attendees must make a note of the code numbers given during the program and submit them by e-mail to the course sponsor. About the Speaker

Richard P. Clem is an attorney and continuing legal education (CLE) provider in Minnesota. He has been in private practice in the Twin Cities for 30 years. He has a J.D., cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul and a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota.
